SOCIALSTREAM

For the MHCI capstone project, we were tasked to redesign social networking for Google. Socialstream emphasizes improving social connections by making it more efficient to communicate with, share with, and view the social content of all the people in network because content is aggregated across many different network. Designs were informed by social networking theory, literature review, evaluation of current social networking systems, and insights from contextual inquiry/directed storytelling. We abstracted a set of archetypes to represent common behavior patterns and high level needs we observed across multiple participants. Ten iterative prototypes followed, which were driven by user feedback from MakeTools, concept validation, and think alouds.
